Gradient-based value mapping for pseudocolor images
نویسندگان
چکیده
bstract. We develop a method for automatic colorization of imges (or two-dimensional fields) in order to visualize pixel values nd their local differences. In many applications, local differences in ixel values are as important as their values. For example, in topogaphy, both elevation and slope often must be considered. Gradientased value mapping (GBVM) is a technique for colorizing pixels ased on value (e.g., intensity or elevation) and gradient (e.g., local ifferences or slope). The method maps pixel values to a color scale either gray-scale or pseudocolor) in a manner that emphasizes graients in the image while maintaining ordinal relationships of values. BVM is especially useful for high-precision data, in which the numer of possible values is large. Colorization with GBVM is demontrated with data from comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromaography (GCxGC), using both gray-scale and pseudocolor to isualize both small and large peaks, and with data from the Global and One-Kilometer Base Elevation (GLOBE) Project, using graycale to visualize features that are not visible in images produced ith popular value-mapping algorithms. © 2007 SPIE and S&T. Objective(s): The latest single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/computed tomography (CT) reconstruction system, referred to as xSPECT Bone™, is a context-specific reconstruction system utilizing tissue segmentation information from CT data, which is called a zone map. The aim of this study was to evaluate theeffects of zone-map enhancement incorporated into the ordered-subset conjug...
متن کاملEfficacy of Application of Pseudocolor Filters in the Detection of Interproximal Caries
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The aim of the present study was to compare the effect of application of an image processing mode of a colorizer on the efficacy of the detection of interproximal carious lesions viewed in direct digital radiography. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 102 proximal surfaces of extracted human premolars on direct digital images were evaluated by three observers with and withou...
متن کاملPseudocolor Processing of Graphical Images Using Multicolor Perceptions
In digital image processing, image enhancement is employed to give a better look to an image. Color is one of the best ways to visually enhance an image .Pseudo-color image processing assigns color to grayscale images. This is useful because the human eye can distinguish between millions of colures but relatively few shades of gray. Pseudo-coloring has many applications on images from devices c...
متن کاملPrincipal-components-based display strategy for spectral imagery
A new pseudocolor mapping strategy for use with spectral imagery is presented. This strategy is based on a principal components analysis of spectral data, and capitalizes on the similarities between three-color human vision and high-dimensional hyperspectral datasets. The mapping is closely related to three-dimensional versions of scatter plots that are commonly used in remote sensing to visual...
